Our Story
Everyone who walks this earth has a story to tell. Tattoos in their very nature embody this truth. They serve to inform others of who we are and remind us of where we have been.
Serpent Song is a tattoo studio born from this principle. It exists to facilitate the celebration of people and the stories they have to tell. Founded in the multicultural nexus of the Bay Area, these values are reflected not only in our local environment, but also, in the work we do. We strive not to limit the conversation to a singular perspective, but rather, endeavor to work collaboratively to make tattoos that are personal for our clients.
We specialize in black pigment tattooing. Just as the sun casts shadows upon the ground, so too does our work stand upon the precipice between light and dark. Patterns and shapes are used to convey a visual cypher across the body with bold simplicity.

Edward 李 Swanson is from Oakland, California, and has ultimately remained loyal to his soil. Specializing in tribal, blackwork, and cultural tattooing, his interests reflect that of the world around him and his experience as an Asian American. His career has led him across North America, Asia, and Europe.
Edward’s ultimate ambition is the revival of ancient Yue tattooing. He prefers large scale work and loves to tattoo on hands and faces.
Coyote Tracks is a passionate artist and tattooer, specializing in ornamental and botanical blackwork. The exploration of the relationship between human beings and body art is the foundation of her craftsmanship. She is inspired by dream worlds, and spirit realms. And holds a deep respect for the transformative ritual of tattooing.
Salina (aka Toad Puppy) is a Bay Area tattoo artist inspired by fauna, flora, and fantasy. She enjoys straddling the balance between the sacred and profane.
Her specialty is in illustrative black and gray tattoos, delivering both custom and flash projects.
